The Rake

This was a lovely historical romance. It had all the right elements. The one issue I had was…I felt there was no real spark between Alys and Reggie. I felt they cared for each other but it was not really that dramatic or passionate. Overall, still good read with many touching moments.

Alys is supposedly just the strange, tall, steward that works for Reggie. But could she also be his soul mate? Reggie has many, many flaws. He is a man trying to change his life from his many wicked ways. Being a rake; the women and the drinking…has to come to an end. Except Alys is so tempting. And he seems to be an alcoholic as well. Determined to battle his demons but often plagued with drinking binges he seems to be pushing Alys away. Each time he drinks he makes advances on Alys. Nonetheless he seems not to remember and Alys believes he is just using her while he is drunk. Why, then…does she seem to have deeper feelings for Reggie? Why does he seem to like her company so much; and is it possible he can change?
