Master of Plagues

A Nicolas Lenoir Novel, #2

Plague has come to the city and it doesn’t appear to have come naturally. Horrible in its affects, it becomes clear that someone has deliberately spread this illness through the populace. Time is not on Inspector Lenoir and his partner Sergeant Kody’s side as the body count rises. When it appears that the nomadic Adali have a cure for this dreaded disease, there is a glimmer of hope. But are the consequences of the cure more disastrous that the disease?

Returning to the Kennian streets and the world of Inspector Nicolas Lenoir was a good way to spend my afternoons for a few days. Lenoir has come far since Darkwalker. He no longer seeks to drown himself in booze, renewed in his pursuit of justice. Sergeant Kody has also grown since we last saw him, standing up to the inspector when it is necessary. I really enjoyed how well done this sequel was, giving us a new and interesting foe for the pair to chase down. The reaction of the townspeople to this outbreak was heartbreakingly, all too real. The quarantines, the desperation, and the violence to a similarly virulent disease played out in our news with the Ebola virus. I am curious to see what new adventures Lenoir and Kody will find themselves in next.
